Watched the New Top Gear (Spoiler Alert)

Given all the rumours that it was going to be a total shitshow (no pun intended), it was...

...Not bad.

Some things I liked

-Star in a Reasonably Priced Car now has less talking and more rallycross!

-Matt LeBlanc is great.

-The Ariel Nomad clip was well shot and you could tell Matt was enjoying himself.

-LaFerrari Spider Confirmed

-Stig is back, and they kept all the old lap times

Things I didn’t like

-Chris Evans constantly shouting

-Sabine’s dialogue through the ACR/Z06 film was horribly contrived and tacky

-The first part of the Reliant challenge was a waste of time, and the whole tone of the challenge was miserable, with none of the charm of Clarkson and Co.

-Sped up footage of the Celebrity lap times

-Poor chemistry between Chris and Matt

Overall, I feel it has great potential, they just need to refine it some more. I’m interested to see how this pans out, as it’s already better than a lot of the crap on TV, but still not as good as say, Mighty Car Mods, B is for Build, or any of the Motor Trend shows. The cinematography is great and the cars are incredible, but even Haggard Garage has better chemistry and you can tell that they’re enjoying themselves. I give it a solid 6/10. Not that good, but better than most of the mainstream TV stuff (Gas Monkey Garage, Counting Cars) out there.

Extra Gear was properly good and kind of makes me wonder why it’s content isn’t in the main show. Chris H and Rory unsurprisingly since that is what they made their names on are on another level when it comes to presenting both in and out of cars over Chris E and Matt.

What I saw of it seems pretty much in line with what other people think (though I got bored during the siarpc bit and turned off). I’ve disliked Evans a while, and top gear hasn’t helped; he’s too shouty, lacks any chemistry with the other hosts and didn’t seem to know as much about cars as the previous 3. It’s also a shame Sabine didn’t get as much screen time as she deserved, even if her lines in the viper vs ZO6 bit were tacky and obviously scripted

Though to its credit, LeBlanc was pretty good, and I’ve heard mostly positive things about the Nomad section and Extra Gear, neither of which I’ve watched yet...

I just want to see Grand tour now so I've got something to compare it to

EVANS annoys me a lot. LeBlanc is pretty good. New SIARPC is fun. Sabine needs more screen time. Harris should be in the Main show, but its good they separated those two into thier own show because Evans would look even worse against the charismatic car nerds of Behind Top Gear, or whatever they're calling it..

Just watched it myself and that’s a nice take on it. Matt LeBlanc was great. Lots of room for improvement but I was impressed. Will watch more for sure.

I’m 37 minutes into the show, and they refuse to tell what model of Reliant-brand car they drove to Blackpool or why they must drive Reliant cars to Blackpool after Top Gear ALREADY ridiculed Reliant cars twice. I only know that in WINTER they recorded that boring segment that I’m viewing near JUNE. And I don't care about Ramsay and Eisenberg and Evans.
